About MISTY
MISTY is an ongoing multi-wavelength survey of approximately 200 nearby dwarf galaxies that resolves stars, gas, and dust from approximately 10 pc with HST and JWST to approximately 100–150 pc with ground-based integral-field spectroscopy using the Magellan and Keck telescopes. It maps how low-mass, low-metallicity galaxies turn gas into stars and how stellar feedback shapes their interstellar medium, a regime in which most galaxies in the Universe form their stars.

Survey Science Goals (details)
- Pre-supernova feedback: How is star formation regulated by pre-supernova feedback?
- Supernova feedback in dwarf galaxies: How does supernova feedback reshape dwarf galaxies?
- Ionizing radiation leakage and impact: How does ionizing radiation escape and shape the surrounding gas?
- The lifecycle of metals: How are metals mixed and recycled in low-mass galaxies?
- The evolution of PAHs: How do PAHs form, evolve, and survive at low metallicity?
